Blenders dominate market

Friday, 4 January 2013

The buyers were very active in the weekly tea market in Chittagong Tuesday and practically all varieties on offer especially bright liquoring types advanced substantially, according to a market report. Blenders dominated the market and owing to intense competition, best lines fetched Tk 300 and above. Loose tea buyers were mostly out-priced. Dusts were very strongly competed for a substantially dearer rates. CTC LEAF: 25,711 packages and 68 packages of Old teas on offer again met with an excellent demand at substantially higher rates. BROKENS/Fannings: The sale started on a strong note with prices appreciating by Tk 10 to Tk 20 but soon after prices appreciated by Tk 25 to Tk 30 for the remaining teas. Bright liquoring Brokens and Fannings generally sold between Tk 295 and Tk 299 whilst good sold between Tk 293 and Tk 298. Plainer teas were also much dearer. CTC DUST: 4,692 packages and four packages of Old Season teas on offer met with a stronger demand at substantially dearer rates. All varieties were strongly competed with the better liquoring types appreciating by upto Tk 30 and selling Tk 300 and above. All others sold well and were dearer by Tk 20 to Tk 25. Blenders were very active with fair interest from the Loose tea buyers.
