Blenders see dearer market

Wednesday, 16 July 2014

There was more support from Blenders especially for the good liquoring varieties which were again a slightly dearer market in the weekly tea market in Chittagong. Loose tea buyers continued to be selective.
Good liquoring CDs were a strong feature of the sale.
CTC LEAF: 26,266 packages and 1,176 packages of old season teas on offer met with a good demand.
BROKENS: All good liquoring Brokens met with quite a strong demand and were mostly firm to slightly dearer particularly the BOPs. Prices for these could be quoted between Tk 190 and Tk 200. Medium varieties were about steady whilst the plainest suffered withdrawals.
FANNINGS: Good liquoring Fannings met with quite a strong demand and were generally fully firm and these ranged between Tk 190 and Tk 198. Medium Fannings saw an improved demand and were generally firm to slightly dearer. Plainest were again difficult of sale.
CTC DUST: 5,104 packages and 90 packages of old season teas on offer met with more demand. Good liquoring RDs/PDs/Ds were fully firm to dearer following competition with the best lines selling Tk 200 and above. All others were also a good market and were mostly firm. CDs sold around last levels but higher valued CDs were slightly lower. Blenders lent support with fairly good interest from the Loose tea buyers.
