The weekly tea sale in Chittagong Tuesday again witnessed a good demand mostly emanating from the Blenders, reports UNB.
According to a market report, good liquouring types had stronger demand with prices appreciated by Tk 2/- to Tk 3/-. Loose tea buyers were more active than the last.
Dusts continued to sell well but still at easier rates.
CTC LEAF: 28,569 packages and 800 packages of Old Season on offer met with quite a strong demand at generally firm rates.
BROKENS: Good liquouring Brokens had a strong market particularly the smaller types which advanced by Tk 1/- to Tk 2/- and occasionally more following competition and these could be quoted between Tk 198/-and Tk 204/- per kg. Others were generally a touch easier, particularly, the larger varieties.
FANNINGS: Good liquouring Fannings had strong demand and were generally fully firm and prices for these ranged between Tk 198/- and Tk 200/-. Medium and plainer teas were about firm.
CTC DUST: 3,638 packages on offer continued to meet with a good demand at slightly easier rates. Good liquoring varieties sold at around last levels easing slightly. Medium and plainer varieties were also easier by Tk 2/- to Tk 3/- in line with quality. Selecting few lines of good liquoring CDs met with strong competition and were firm to slightly dearer. Blenders lent good support with some interest from the Loose Tea buyers.
