Blind woman violated, rapist held in Pabna

Our Correspondent PABNA, Mar 17: The Ishwardi thana police Wednesday arrested a rapist on charge of raping a blind woman. He was sent to the Pabna jail and the medical test of the victim completed Wednesday afternoon. Earlier, the accused arrestee violated a physically disabled the girl beside her residence Tuesday night. The arrestee is identified as Akel Uddin (35), son of Abul Kashem of village Baraichara in Ishwardi Upazila of the district. Officer-in-charge of Ishwardi police station Samiul Alam said the accused raped a 30-year old blind woman (name not mentioned) of the village Wednesday night. On hearing her scream victim's brothers rescued her. The victim's brother Shukur Ali filed a case with the Ishwardi police station. Following the case Ishwardi police arrested the culprit from his residence. Meanwhile, the victim was sent to the Pabna Medical College Hospital for medical test on Wednesday noon. One killed in clash Another report adds: A man was killed in a clash between two groups at Bhanrara village of Pabna Sadar Upazila Wednesday over a disputed land. The deceased was identified as Dulal Uddin (52), son of Meser Ali Khan of the village Bhanrara. Officer-in-charge of Pabna Sadar police station Enayet Uddin said that the supporters of Moyen Uddin Khan and another led by Dulal Uddin locked in a clash over a disputed land at around 1.00pm, leaving Dulal Uddin died on the spot and four others seriously injured. All the injured were admitted to the Pabna Medical College Hospital where Dulal Uddin died at about 3.00pm. Four robbers held Another message says: The Santhia police arrested four robbers as the mob caught them red handed during a robbery at Baya village of Santhia Upazila in Pabna Tuesday evening. The arrestees are professional robbers, police said. The arrestees are Abdus Salam of village Tolot, Jamin Uddin of village Shalika, Bikash Kumar Goshhwami of village Bonogram and Hossen Ali of village Brishalika of Bera Upazila of the district. They all are aged of 25 to 35 police said. Officer-in-charge of Santhia police station SM Bazlur Rashid said that a gang of robbers numbering 8 to 10 were snatching money from the fish traders at Baya village when the fish traders were going to Bera fish market Tuesday evening.
