Blu-ray player in computer city

The player of Blu-ray Disc BD, a next-generation optical disc format known as Blu-ray Disc (BD), is available at the BCS city.

Excel Techno, sole distributor of Lite-On IT Corporation of Taiwan announced last week the availability of Lite-On Blu-ray player in the market.

The product will enable the users recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video and storing large volume of data.

A market source said the Blu-ray disc format offers more than five times the storage capacity of traditional DVDs and can hold up to 25GB on a single-layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc.

The Lite-On player is now available at Tk 16,000, the source said.

The Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA), a group of the world's leading consumer electronics, personal computer and media manufacturers including Apple, Dell, Hitachi, HP, JVC, LG, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, TDK and Thomson developed blu-ray.
