BNP accuses Speaker of bias

BNP Wednesday accused the Speaker of bias and viewed democracy is at stake in the absence of a neutral chair in parliament, reports UNB.
Leaders of the party at a rally at Muktangon in the city equally accused the ruling party of its alleged repression on political adversaries, misdeeds and anti-people activities. They spoke of preparing the nation for launching a mass movement to dislodge the government.
They termed Awami League as 'fascist' for repression on the opposition and implicating its leaders in false, fabricated cases.
Presided over by BNP vice-chairman Selima Rahman, the rally was addressed by Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar, MP, Mirza Abbas, Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia, Abduallh Al Noman, Razia Fayez, Amanullah Aman, Zainul Abdin Farooque, MP, Elias Ali, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Abul Khaier Bhuiyan, MP, Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anie, MP, Habib-un-Nabi Sohel and Fazlul Huq Milon.
Mr Sircar questioned the neutrality of Speaker Abdul Hamid in conducting parliament. He said parliament cannot be effective without neutrality of the Speaker. Biased role of the Speaker has endangered democracy.
