BNP-AL clash leaves 20 injured

BRAHMANBARIA, Oct 26 (UNB): At least 20 people were injured in a clash between the supporters of BNP and Awami League (AL) at village Jalalpur under Bijoynagar Upazila today (Tuesday).
Local sources said Dollar Chowdhury, union BNP general secretary, made brick field on rented land of Dudh Mia Sarder, an AL leader.
An altercation between two leaders ensued as Dollar did not pay rent for using the land since long.
Following the incident, supporters of the two leaders clashed leaving 10 people injured Monday evening.
In a sequel to the clash, both the groups equipped with home-made lethal weapons engaged in a two hour clash from 6am today, leaving 20 people injured.
About 20 houses were also vandalised during the clash.
On information, the police rushed in and fired 10 rounds of rubber bullet for bringing the situation under control.
The law enforcers were deployed in the area to maintain law and order.
