BNP alliance to stage demo today

Saturday, 16 August 2014

The BNP-led 20-party alliance will take out processions across the country today(Saturday) with black flags protesting the killing of over 2,000 innocent Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, reports UNB.
In the capital, the leaders and activists of the alliance will bring out a procession with black flags from in front of BNP' Nayapaltan central office around 3pm.
Earlier on Tuesday, BNP acting secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the programme at a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan office.
The programmes will be observed in all the divisional cities and district towns.
BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a press briefing Friday said they have taken all-out preparations to observe their scheduled black-flag procession.
Replying to a question, Rizvi said they have already sought a written permission from the police. "The authorities have responded positively though we're yet to receive the written permission."
He, however, assured that their programme will be peaceful one.
BNP sources said the Dhaka city unit of the party has taken extensive preparations for making the programme a success as it is the first programme of BNP and its alliance to be observed after the formation of new convening committee of the unit, led by Mirza Abbas.
It was learned that the city BNP will try to stage a big showdown to invigorate its leaders and activists for the future action programmes.
The unit also had a joint meeting with the leaders of different associate bodies on Wednesday ahead of the programme.
At the meeting, city unit BNP convener Mirza Abbas gave the party leaders the necessary direction to make their scheduled action programmes a success. He instructed the party leaders not to do any provocative acts while observing their programmes.
Abbas also warned that the government will be held responsible for the evolving situation if it tries to obstruct his party's peaceful action programmes.
