BNP on Thursday announced a two-day programme protesting the killing of a Jubo Dal activist in Narayanganj and attacks on the party's 44th founding anniversary programmes in different parts of the country, reports UNB.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the programmes at a rally in front of the party's Nayapaltan central office in the city.
As a part of the programmes, the party will arrange gayebana namaz-e-janaza across the country, including at the party's central office in the capital seeking the salvation of slain Jubo Dal activist Shaon (21) after Juma prayers on Friday.
Besides, the party will hoist black flags at its all offices all over the country to register the party's protest against the attacks on its peaceful programmes in different districts, including in Narayanganj, Manikganj, Netrakona and Narial.
BNP will also stage demonstrations in all cities and district tows across the country on Saturday.
The party brought out a colourful rally from its central office, marking its 44th founding anniversary on Thursday noon. Thousands of leaders and activists of the party and its associate bodies joined the rally.
BNP will also arrange a discussion on Friday in observance of its founding anniversary.
Earlier in the day, Jubo Dal activist Shaon was killed and 50 people were injured in a clash between police and the opposition party members in Narayanganj as they took out a procession around 10.45am, marking the founding anniversary of the party.
Meanwhile, At least 30 people, including 13 cops, were injured in a clash between Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) activists and police in Netrokona town Thursday morning.
Fakhruzzaman Jewel, Additional Superintendent of Police of the district, said vehicular movement in the district's Chhoto Bazar area was suspended as BNP activists started to gather in front of their party office to celebrate the 44th founding anniversary of the party.
