BNP announces marches to district ECs on May 9

The main opposition BNP took out a protest march in the city Monday afternoon demanding cancellation of the results of Bhola-3 by-election and resignation of the election commissioners, reports bdnews24.com.
The procession of a few hundred people started from Muktangan at around 4pm and they marched towards the Election Commission.
The procession was led by BNP leaders Mirza Abbas and Sadek Hossain Khoka. Before starting, they announced a programme to take place on May 9 involving marches to district election commission offices throughout the country.
BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan said the processions would be peaceful.
Ruling Awami League candidate Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shaon beat his rival BNP contender Hafizuddin Ahmed in the Apr 24 by-election in Bhola-3 constituency.
BNP has been demanding cancellation of the results of the election alleging vote rigging, but the EC has rejected this.
It also has alleged that the EC worked on behalf of the government to help the ruling party candidate win.
