BNP blames EC for implementing government's agenda in Bhola-3

Sunday, 18 April 2010

The main opposition BNP has blamed the Election Commission (EC) for implementing the government's agenda in the Bhola-3 by-election.
The by-election in Bhola-3 constituency (Lalmohan-Tojumuddin) is set to be held on April 24, reports UNB.
BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the allegation while briefing journalists at the party's Nayapaltan central office Saturday.
Rizvi said the BNP had been repeatedly demanding deployment of the army in Bhola-3 ahead of the election for it to be free, fair and impartial. But the EC had consistently rebuffed these demands.
Rizvi also refuted veteran Awami League (AL) Leader Tofael Ahmed's remarks about divisions within the BNP.
BNP leaders Abdus Salam, Abdul Latif Jony, Asadul Karim Shahin and Rafiq Shikder were also present at the press briefing.
