BNP chalks out programmes

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has chalked out elaborate programmes to observe Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day with due respect today.
The national and party flags will be kept half-mast and black flags will be hoisted atop the party's central office in Naya Paltan area of the capital at 6:00am.
Similar programmes will also be followed at the party's offices at district, municipality and upazila levels.
The party's leaders and activists will wear black badges and gather near Balaka Cinema Hall, New Market area from where they will proceed to Azimpur Graveyard to offer 'munajat' at the graveyards of Language Movement martyrs for the salvation of their departed souls.
After that, BNP stalwarts will place wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital.
Meanwhile, BNP leader Mirza Abbas was released from jail on bail on Tuesday evening.
He came out from Keraniganj Jail at around 7:00pm. BNP leaders and activists received him outside the jail gate.
Mirza Abbas was arrested on October 31, 2023 and sent to jail on November 5 after police filed 11 cases on charges of violence that erupted following the deadly clashes between BNP supporters and police on October 28 during the party's grand rally in the capital.
