Voicing disappointment over the misrepresentation of historical facts about the 1971 Liberation War in Hindi film, ‘Gunday’, BNP on Monday alleged that the history of the Liberation War has been disparaged in the movie. “It’s been clearly stated in the film that India gave birth to Bangladesh defeating Pakistan in the third war between them (India and Pakistan). I was surprised as a ‘pen soldier’ of the Liberation War (due to distortion of historical facts in the film),” said BNP Cultural Affairs secretary Gazi Mazharul Anwar in a statement. He also urged the film authorities to expunge the distorted facts from the film so that viewers do not get confused about the history of Bangladesh’s Liberation War. In a separate statement, pro-BNP cultural front Jasas termed ‘fabricated and baseless’ about the facts presented in the movie about the history of Bangladesh Liberation War. The film ‘Gunday’ has already sparked anger among the Bangladeshi across the world for presenting the controversial facts, according to a news agency.
