BNP condemns attempt to abduct DRU president

BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has strongly condemned the incident where miscreants ‘in the guise of law enforcers’ attempted to pick up Dhaka Reports’ Unity (DRU) president Shaheed Chowdhury from the capital’s Bijoy Sharani on Sunday evening. In a statement on Sunday night, Mirza Alamgir said, ‘The abduction attempt has proved that journalists have no freedom in collecting and publishing news as they are under immense pressure.’ Holding the government responsible for the incident, the BNP spokesman said the government is making evil attempts to curb the press freedom through terrorising and killing journalists and making them disappeared. He demanded immediate arrest and trial of those involved in the incident, according to a news agency.
