BNP creating confusion over Teesta deal: Hanif
Wednesday, 10 June 2015
An Awami League (AL) senior leader rejected on Tuesday BNP's claim that the government has failed to reach a deal over the sharing of Teesta water, reports UNB.
He further said BNP is trying to make people confused about it.
"Fifteen days before the Indian PM's trip to Bangladesh it was said the Teesta deal wouldn't be signed this time, but now BNP is trying to make people confused about it," AL joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said.
The AL leader said this at a panel-introduction programme for Bangladesh Dental Society Election-2015 at Police Convention Centre in the city.
Earlier in the day at a press briefing, BNP spokesman Asaduzzaman Ripon said, "As a nation, we've got frustrated as the Teesta deal couldn't be signed. It's government's failure."
Hanif said people are not upset, but it is Khaleda Zia who got frustrated.
He observed that BNP has no future if Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman are not left out of the party. "BNP's days are running out."
About holding talks with BNP, the ruling party leader said there is no need to hold talks with a failed leader.
