BNP defends remarks of Tarique against Bangabandhu

Defending party senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman’s recent remarks against Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, BNP Tuesday asked the Awami League to come up with evidence if there is any mistake in the BNP leader’s assertions.
“Tarique Rahman’s recent statement in London was based on facts, documents and historical evidence. He has dug out those from different books and newspapers. You (AL leaders) come up with proof and facts if there’s anything wrong in his assertions,” said BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, according to a news agency.
He was addressing a meeting arranged at the Jatiya Press Club by BNP’s student wing Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal protesting the ‘continuous falsehood’ against Tarique Rahman.
After making a surprise claim that Ziaur Rahman was Bangladesh’s first president, Tarique last week also came up with another assertion that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was an ‘illegal’ prime minister.
