BNP demo in Dhaka city, all dist HQs today

BNP is set to stage nationwide demonstrations on Friday protesting the ‘ruling party’s attacks on its peaceful gatherings in the city’s Bakshibazar on Wednesday and arrests of party leaders and repression on them across the country. The programme will be observed in Dhaka city, all divisional cities and district headquarters. The party, however, did not make it clear where it will stage the demonstration in Dhaka city. A BNP press release on Thursday urged the leaders and workers of the party and its associate bodies to make the programme a success. Earlier on Wednesday, BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir claimed that the ruling party men attacked common people and their party activists without any provocation with the help of law enforcers in Bakshibazar, leaving over 600 injured, including 100 seriously, according to a news agency.
