BNP denied Dhaka rally permission

Saturday, 8 November 2014

The BNP has not received permission to hold its planned rally at Dhaka’s Suhrawardy Udyan. Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner, Masudur Rahman avoided a direct reply when asked if the BNP would get permission to hold the rally scheduled on Saturday. ‘The BNP will be provided security if they want to hold their programme indoor,’ he told this correspondent. BNP had sent a letter to DMP last week, seeking permission to hold a rally on November 7 to mark the ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’. Later, they sent another letter on October 29 informing the authorities that the party would like to hold the rally on Nov 8, instead of Nov 7, and sought permission for the same. But they did not get permission for the Nov 8 rally till Saturday afternoon, according to bdnews24.com.
