BNP destroyed democracy: Amu

JHALAKATHI, May 23 (BSS): Industries Minister and Awami League Advisory Council Member Amir Hossain Amu said today BNP has destroyed democracy in the country.
"There is no practice of democracy and patriotism in that party (BNP)," he said speaking as the chief guest at the triennial conference of NalchhitiĀ upazila and poura Awami League at Merchant Model High School and CollegeĀ ground.
The minister said BNP loves power. On the other hand, Awami League (AL) is a patriotic party and people live in peace when it is in power, he added.
He said the present government is working for democracy and development to build a poverty-free country. "This democratic government cannot be toppled by waging an irrational and anti-people movement," he added.
Mr Amu said the people of this country are not responding to the BNP-led alliance's movement as they do not like to see any more anarchy, arson, killing and economic stagnancy in the name of hartal.
