BNP enforces hartal in Bogra

A half-day hartal (shutdown), called the local unit of BNP demanding the release of its five leaders whom a court sent to jail in a case for bomb blast in front of Bogra Awami League office, is being observed peacefully in Bogra district on Saturday. Picketing by the party activists was seen in different parts of Bogra town and the headquarters of all Upazilas in the northern district today. Motorised vehicles stayed off the roads while markets, supermarkets, private offices, some educational institutions and roadside shops remained closed. No long-route buses left Bogra Bus Terminal or any entered the district headquarters. Party activists have been blocking Bogra-Dhaka Highway and different roads connecting Bogra with other districts since the shutdown begun at 6:00am. No clash is reported, according to a news agency.
