BNP facing serious leadership crisis: Ershad

Saturday, 6 December 2014

Jatiya Party Chairman Hussein Muhammad Ershad has claimed that BNP is facing a serious leadership crisis. He predicted that the party will go out of existence before the next national elections. ‘The national elections will be held after 4 years or later, but Khaleda Zia’s BNP will have no existence before that elections. Jatiya Party will be then the major opponent of Awami League to contest the polls,’ the former military ruler said while addressing a public meeting at Harati School ground in Rangpur city on Friday afternoon. Ershad, also a special envoy to the Prime Minister, expressed deep concern over what he said the sharp slide in law and order. ‘The country is in a bad shape. People across the country are not in peace.’ Accusing both the ruling Awami League and the BNP of having failed to ensure peace and welfare of people, he said people want to get rid of the two parties. ‘Awami League and BNP are busy in killing, infighting and clashes. People want to see Jatiya Party in power for peace.’ Taken aback at the leak of question papers of primary examinations, Ershad said, ‘I never heard before that the question papers of primary exams got leaked,’ according to a news agency.
