Seven people, including a policeman, were injured in a clash between two factions of BNP in the city's Nayapaltan area Monday noon, reports UNB.
Witnesses said the clash between BNP's jailed leader Nasir Ahmed Pintu-backed Altaf (Lalbagh than BNP convener) group and former commissioner Mir Ashraf Ali Azam-supported group broke out following an altercation at the workers' meeting of Lalbagh thana BNP at the Bhasani auditorium, Nayapaltan around 12 pm.
As police rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control, the BNP men showered brickbats at the law-enforcers, triggering a chase and counter-chase, said officer-in-charge of Nayapaltan Police Station Morshed Alam.
Seven people, including a cop, were injured during the fight, he said.
Later, police arrested 10 BNP men from the spot.
