Food Minister Quamrul Islam said on Tuesday the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has no belief in democracy and people's mandate and that's why they are seeking support from foreigners, reports BSS.
The food minister said this while addressing a discussion as the chief guest.
Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote (BSJ) arranged the programme marking the 5th death anniversary of former President Zillur Rahman at Jaitya Press Club (JPC) here.
The ruling Awami League (AL) has no desire to keep BNP Chairperson away from the election, said the minister, adding, however, BNP chief's participation in the election totally depends on the apex court's decision.
"We are not trying to keep her [Khaleda Zia] away from the election ....We have no influence on the legal affairs," said the minister.
