BNP has no strength to launch movement: AL

Friday, 20 June 2014

Joint general secretary of the ruling Awami League (AL) Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said Thursday BNP lacks organisational strength to launch a movement to unseat the government, reports BSS.
"There is no need to pay heed to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's threat to launch a movement after Eid-ul-Fitr.  People will not respond to the call of a nail and toothless old tigress," he said.
Mr Hanif said this while speaking as the chief guest at an extended meeting of Dhaka City Awami League (AL) at its Bangabandhu Avenue office in the city. The extended meeting was convened with a view to making the 65th founding anniversary of AL a success.
Acting president of Dhaka City AL MA Aziz chaired the meeting. It was also addressed, among others, by its general secretary and Relief and Disaster Management Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya (Bir Bikram) and office secretary of central AL Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap.
Mr Hanif said, "As Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina successfully completed the January 5 parliament polls defeating all sorts of conspiracies, stability has come back in the country's politics. Bangladesh now is marching ahead."
He alleged that BNP has again been hatching conspiracy to create anarchy in the country being envious of the developments achieved during the rule of Awami League.
The AL leader added that some BNP leaders have already launched clandestine attacks on the AL leaders and workers after the failure of their so-called movement and that's why involvement of some BNP leaders in the attack on AL central working committee member Enamul Huq Shamim couldn't be ruled out.
Strongly condemning the attack on AL leader Enamul Huq Shamim, Mr Hanif called upon the law enforcing agencies to nab the attackers immediately and brought them to justice.
