BNP-Jama'at conspiring to stage genocide: Ashraf
Saturday, 15 December 2012
LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Syed Ashraful Islam Friday alleged that the main opposition BNP and Jama'at are preparing to commit genocide again in the country, reports UNB.
"The war criminals and Khaleda Zia are intertwined in the same thread. They're preparing for committing heinous genocide again," Syed Ashraf, also Awami League general secretary, said this while talking to reporters after placing wreath at the monument at Rayer Bazar mass grave marking the Martyred Intellectuals' Day.
The ruling party leader also said Khaleda Zia is frequently calling hartals not for caretaker government system but for stopping the war criminals' trial.
"Khaleda Zia is putting in her best efforts to save the war criminals. The BNP and Jama'at led by Khaleda is the only pro-war criminal political force in the country. We urge the countrymen to remain aware of that. No matter, how hard she tries, Khaleda won't be able to save the war criminals," Syed Ashraf added. About the delaying process of the war crimes trial, Syed Ashraf said it is taking time as Awami League believes in transparency in the trial process. "The trial could have been completed much earlier had it been a Kangaroo court as was under Ziaur Rahman's rule."
