BNP-Jamaat returns to anti-India politics : AL

Thursday, 11 June 2015

Awami League publicity and publication secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud observed on Wednesday that BNP and its ally Jamaat returned to the anti-India politics immediately after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bangladesh, reports UNB.
"Though BNP welcomed Modi's visit to Bangladesh, but the party and its ally Jamaat returned to its old form of anti-India politics. Jamaat announced a demonstration programme protesting the visit, while BNP leaders are continuously delivering inconsistent remarks on the visit," he said.
The Awami League leader said this while addressing a press conference in the city.
Hasan Mahmud said the pattern of BNP's politics is, in fact, to oppose India and to patronise militancy and fundamentalism.
"The Indian Prime Minister clearly told Khaleda Zia that India never pampers terrorism and militancy and is working with Bangladesh to stamp out militancy and terrorism. Frustrated after hearing it, BNP has chosen the path of making Modi's tour a controversial one," he added.
He went on saying, "Instead of praising the government for agreements signed with India, BNP raised questions on various issues, including the Teesta issue. The Indian Prime Minister clearly said the Tessta deal would be signed like that of the Land Boundary Agreement. He is just taking some time in doing it."
The ruling party leader urged BNP to return to the path of democracy shunning the path of anarchy.
