BNP-Jamaat trying to create anarchy: Hanif

Saturday, 30 August 2014

Joint general secretary of the ruling Awami League Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif alleged Friday that BNP-Jamaat combine have been trying frantically to create anarchy in the country, reports UNB.
"Those who want to create instability across the country might be responsible for the killings in the capital. BNP might also commit the killings as their movement became a laughing stock," he said.
Mr Hanif said this to reporters after going through the preparations for the public rally-cum-discussion to be organised by Dhaka City Awami League (AL) and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the city on the last two days of the month of mourning (Saturday and Sunday) respectively.
AL president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will attend as the chief guest at both the days' programmes.
Turning to the killing of the Khatib of the Supreme Court Jame Mosque Moulana Nurul Islam Faruqui and three persons at Moghbazar over the past two days, the AL leader said, "Such killing incidents also take place also in other countries of the world. But, it should not be termed as deterioration of the law and order situation in the country over the killing incidents."
He expressed the hope that those involved in the killings would be brought to justice and tried within the shortest possible time.
About the BNP's movement threat, Hanif said, "People usually smile when they (BNP) talk about movement. We also can't stop laughing at this. Every time they used to say that they will launch movement after Eid but they don't say specifically the Eid of which year they have planned for the movement."
Dhaka City AL leaders including its organising secretary Shahe Alam Murad, BCL president HM Badiuzzaman Sohag and general secretary Siddiqui Nazmul Alam were present, among others, during AL leader's visit at the venue.
BSS adds: Awami League (AL) Advisory Council member and former Railway Minister Suranjit Sengupta, MP, alleged Friday that a vested quarter has taken to the field to worsen law and order situation, reports BSS.
"People have become panic over the incidents of killing of Khatib of Supreme Court Jame Mosque Moulana Nurul Islam Faruqui and three persons in Moghbazar within a couple of days. So, the law enforcing agencies should remain more vigilant and alert in this regard," he said.
Suranjit Sengupta, a senior parliamentarian of the ruling Awami League, said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion in the city.
Bangabandhu Academy organised the discussion on the current politics at the auditorium of the Diploma Engineers' Institution at Kakrail in the capital with its adviser Haji Md Selim, MP, in the chair. Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) leader Meer Hossain Akhter and Bangabandhu Academy secretary general Humayun Kabir Mizi were the discussants, among others.
Calling upon the law enforcers to remain more vigilant and alert, Suranjit Sengupta said, "Such anarchy cannot be allowed to continue that human being (people) will be subjected to murder inside their residents by assassins. The police force and the ministry of Home Affairs should take more strong steps so that people are assured of safety of their lives."
The senior Awami League leader said, "Those who were responsible for deterioration of the law and order situation in the country in the past have become active again. The government should look into the matter diligently."
