BNP-Jamaat used BD as arms smuggling transit: Matia

GAZIPUR: Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury alleged that BNP-Jamaat had used Bangladesh as a transit for arms smuggling as they have no patriotism.
“It’s been proved time and again that they (BNP-Jamaat) have no patriotism. They had used Bangladesh as a route for arms smuggling,” she said.
The minister came up with the allegation while addressing the inaugural session of the annual research review workshop of Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (Brri) Sunday.
Brri Director General Dr Jiban Kishna Biswas presented the keynote paper styled ‘the researches and progress 2012-2013’ at the programme.
In his paper, Biswas said Brri has so far invented 65 high-yielding varieties of rice, including four hybrid varieties, according to a news agency.
