Monday, 11 September 2023

A Dhaka court on Sunday sent BNP leader Amanullah Aman to jail rejecting his bail petition in a case filed over acquiring wealth beyond known income source, reports UNB.
Judge of Dhaka Special Judge Court-1 Abul Kashem passed the order after the BNP leader surrendered before the court upon directives from the High Court (HC) with a bail petition.
The court turned down the bail plea and sent Amanullah Aman to jail, defendant's counsel Syed Nazrul Islam told media on the court premises.
Additional members of law enforcement agencies were deployed in and around the court area to ward off any untoward incident.
Though BNP supporters gathered on the court presmises, police drove them out.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on March 6, 2007 filed the case with the city's Kafrul police station against Amanullah Aman and his wife Sabera Aman.
