Thursday, 5 April 2018
BNP vice-chairman and Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu was released on Wednesday from prison on bail, reports UNB.
Duddu said he walked out of the Keraniganj Central Jail around 3:00 pm after his bail order reached the jail authorities.
He said he got bail from the High Court recently in two cases he was implicated, paving the way for his release.
On Feb 12 last, plainclothes police picked up Shamsuzzaman Dudu from near Matshya Bhaban on his way back home after joining BNP's human chain programme in front of the National Press Club protesting its chief Khaleda Zia's imprisonment.
Later, he was shown arrested in two political violence cases.
Earlier on Tuesday, BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy was released from the same jail on bail, over two months after his arrest.
BNP alleged that 4,400 leaders and activists have been arrested across the country since January 30.
