BNP leader Khokan gets 6-month bail in 3 cases

BNP leader Mahbub Uddin Khokan has been granted six months’ bail by the High Court in three cases, including one for an arson attack that killed a policeman at Banglamotor in the city last year. The HC bench of Justice Borhanuddin and Justice KM Kamrul Kader passed the order on Monday after hearing in response to a bail plea of the defense. The first case was filed against Mahbub Uddin Khokan on charge of killing a cop during a Hefazat-e-Islam’s rally at Motijheel on May 5 in 2013, the second case was lodged for blasting crude bombs at Kamalapur during a demonstration by the opposition on Nov 5 and the third case for a petrol bomb attack on a police-requisitioned bus at Banglamotor that left a traffic policeman killed on Dec 25. One day after the Banglamotor attack, Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Khokon in front of Matsya Bhaban, according to private TV channels.
