BNP leader killed during clash

KHULNA, Nov 7 (UNB): A Union Parishad (UP) member was today (Friday) killed at Fultala village in Batiaghata Upazila while he was trying to settle a dispute between two rival groups.
The deceased was identified as Manoj Mondol (50), a member of Batiaghata Sadar union parishad and also president of union unit BNP. Police said Naren Mondol and Shiv Mondol of Fultala village, who had a long-standing land dispute, locked in an altercation over the issue at around 2.00 pm. At one stage, the supporters of Naren attacked their rivals as well as Manoj with sticks when he tried to settle the dispute, killing him on the spot.
