A Dhaka court on Monday indicted senior BNP leaders Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Amanullah Aman and Joynal Abdin Farroque and 144 other leaders and activists on charges of creating unrest in 2013. Two cases, filed with Paltan Police Station, accuse them of bombing and going on the rampage in March last year near the BNP head office in the city. Dhaka Metropolitan Speedy Trial Tribunal’s judge Tareque Moinul Islam Bhuiyan framed charges against them on Monday and set September 25 for the next hearing. Defence counsel Masud Ahmed Talukder said police pressed charges against 148 people but the name of one Omar Faruk was dropped as he had already died. On March 11, 2013, several bombs were exploded in Naya Paltan area during a BNP rally. An hour later, police raided the party headquarters and detained 155 people.
