One-point demand
BNP, like-minded parties bring out mass processions tomorrow
FE REPORT | Thursday, 10 August 2023
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will bring out mass processions in the capital tomorrow (Friday) simultaneously with other like-minded parties and allies to drum up support to their one-point demand - immediate resignation of the government to pave the way for holding the national elections under a neutral caretaker administration.
BNP's Dhaka city south and north units will separately bring out two processions.
"This programme (mass procession) is a part of our ongoing one-point movement to oust the government and hold elections under a neutral election-time caretaker government," BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said at a press briefing while announcing the programme at the party's central office in the capital's Naya Paltan area on Wednesday.
He said all like-minded parties and allies will simultaneously hold the mass procession programme.
He sought police cooperation for making their programme a success.
The BNP leader vowed to hold the programme even if they did not get police permission for it.
Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the government in a planned way amended the constitution to perpetuate power.
