BNP loses to AL strategy not joining JS polls: Quader

Communications Minister Obaidul Quader Friday said that BNP lost to the political strategy of Awami League (AL), by boycotting the January 5 general election, reports UNB.
"BNP must have realised its mistake… they've now plunged to the fray in the upcoming upazila parishad elections,'' he said.
Obaidul Quader made the remarks to reporters while inspecting the progress of the four-lane project on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Chandina Upazila of Comilla.
About the term of current parliament and mid-term election, the minister said there is nothing called frustration in politics.
"BNP will have to learn from its mistakes," he said, adding that "we've been elected for five years. But nothing can be said now how long we'll stay in power."
Obaidul said the government is giving priority to complete the work on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway.
He informed that the Chinese Company has resumed their task after stopping the project work for several months due to political unrest in the country.
BSS adds: Overseas Employment and Expatriate Welfare Minister Engineer Khondoker Mosharraf Hossain called upon the Bangladesh Chattra League (BCL) workers to remain united to face any challenge on way to prosperity and development of the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The Minister was addressing the workers conference of Faridpur district BCL Thursday afternoon held at Ambica memorial ground in the district town as chief guest. Mosharraf said that BCL is the source of the political strength of Awami League and has been waging many successful historical movements from the great language movement of 1952.
In an oblique reference to BNP the Minister said that to call a movement against the government will be a futile exercise as their own 'house' has become fragile and may collapse any moment.  So it is better to keep their own house intact otherwise you would be blown away in the air. The BCL members are enough to face the destructive activities of the parties opposing the government, he said.
The Minister also called upon the BCL activists to remain vigilant against the vandalism and violence programs of the anti-government parties during upazilla polls.
He called upon the BCL workers to unitedly support party nominated candidates in the upcoming upazilla election to help continuation of the development process in rural areas.
