BNP makes clarion call to join student movement

FE REPORT | Sunday, 4 August 2024

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has made a clarion call to the countrymen to join the ongoing student movement.
Mr Fakhrul said that his party would provide all-out support to the students' ongoing movement.
He made the call on Saturday while addressing the media after visiting the family members of the party's detained standing committee members Amir Kashru Mahmud Chowdhury and Nazrul Islam Khan in the capital.
Mr Fakhrul also called upon the BNP leaders and activists to extend all kinds of support to the ongoing student movement.

"A mass uprising has already started in the country. All the people of the country have joined with the students in the movement against discrimination. The main feature of this movement is that all people are now united defying all fears," he said.
"Now the youths have awakened. The awakening of the youths couldn't be defeated. The oppressions (by the government) on the students, people and the opponents have surpassed the Pakistani occupation forces' brutality. This movement is near to victory. And trial of this (mass killings) must be held," he maintained.
Mr Fakhrul further said that the detained BNP leaders and activists have been passing days in inhuman condition.
He accused the government of not allowing relatives to meet the detained leaders and activists in prisons.
"Even the detainees were not allowed to receive medicines from their relatives," he alleged.
