BNP men block road demanding abolition of convening body

NARSINGDI, Nov 23 (UNB): A section of BNP activists blockaded the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway for half an hour Sunday to press home their demand for cancellation of district convening committee.
They brought out a procession and put up barricade on the highway for half an hour from 11am.
Later, addressing a press conference at local press club former district BNP president Mejba-huddin Iran accused district BNP convener Khairul Kabir Khokon of creating rift in the party.
Mr Iran also blamed Mr Khokon for excluding the party's dedicated and devoted activists while forming committees of different local units and inducting controversial activists in the committees.
Terming the district convening committee 'illegal' he called for scrapping of this committee.
