Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Saturday said BNP has proved that they are in deep political crisis through meetings with different so-called and lateral political parties, reports BSS.
"The whole world is now in crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russian-Ukraine war. Advices have been given to use electricity and energy cost-effectively even in the United States of America. Load-shedding has taken place in many European countries and they are advising to use electricity economically," the minister told reporters replying to a query over a comment by a BNP leader at Bangladesh Films Development Corporation (BFDC) in the capital.Hasan said inflation is the highest in the USA in the last 40 years and it is 8.6 per cent while it (inflation) is 9.1 per cent in the United Kingdom, 73.5 per cent in Turkey, 39.1 per cent in Sri Lanka, 13.8 per cent in Pakistan and over seven per cent in India. The whole world is now in crisis and Bangladesh is not an isolated island from the world, he added.
He said it is normal that Bangladesh will also go through some crisis if the whole world is in crisis. But the situation of Bangladesh is much better than many other countries due to Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's different pragmatic and time-befitting steps, said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary.
For this, he said, the name of Bangladesh is not among the vulnerable countries in the studies of economists published in different international media.
He said BNP is in a deep political crisis. In fact, BNP is afraid of elections as they got only five seats in 2018 polls despite making alliance with rightists, leftists, extreme rightists and extreme leftists, he added.
