BNP observes 'Black Day'

BNP observed Monday as 'Black Day' countrywide terming January 11 2007 the day of suspension of constitutional rights of the people through promulgation of the State of Emergency.
In observance of the day, a black flag was hoisted at the party central office and leaders and activists placed wreaths at the grave of its founder and late president Ziaur Rahman in the morning.
Talking to bdnew-s24.com, party Secretary General Khandaker Delwar Hossain said: "January 11 is a black chapter in the history of Bangladesh. On this day in 2007, some army officers forced the then President Iajuddin Ahmed to impose the emergency."
