Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) formed a seven-member high-level committee to investigate the oil spill in the Sundarbans following an oil-tanker crash. The committee, led by BNP vice-chairman and former water resources minister Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, was formed at a meeting of the party leaders, BNP chairperson's media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan said. He said the committee would monitor the overall activities of cleaning the spilled oil and assess the environmental impacts of the catastrophe. — UNB
