BNP protests police obstruction to its rally

BNP staged demonstrations across the country Sunday in protest against police action foiling its scheduled rally at the Engineers’ Institute in the city Thursday.
The party leaders and activists brought out processions in all the cities, including Dhaka, district towns and upazila headquarters throughout the country to register their protest against the police action, according to a news agency.
As part of the countrywide programmes, different thana BNP units brought out processions in the capital city, according to a Dhaka city unit BNP press release.
The party in the press release alleged that their at least 18 leaders and activists were injured as police attacked their processions in Mirpur and Shahbagh areas of the city.
It also claimed that police arrested their eight activists.
