BNP reformists refute Khaleda's allegations

Wednesday, 11 July 2007

Joint Secretary General of the BNP Ashraf Hossain said Tuesday that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's absolute power had harmed the interest of the party and the country as well, reports UNB.
Talking to reporters at party's Secretary General Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan's residence, he disagreed with Khaleda Zia's contention saying that they are moving reform proposals in accordance with the BNP constitution.
"Let her show which provision of the party constitution has been violated in presenting the reform proposals," he said responding to Khaleda Zia's allegation.
Referring to Khaleda Zia's another allegation that those who joined BNP from other parties are conspiring to split the party, Ashraf said most of the BNP stalwarts joined BNP from other parties.
He said the image of BNP and the country was damaged by the allegation of plundering of thousands of crores of taka. It is not fair for the party chairperson to speak against us without looking into those allegations, he added.
