BNP reiterates threat to wage movement after Eid
Sunday, 27 July 2014
The BNP has reiterated its threat to put up a strong resistance against the government if it does not respond to the opposition's call for holding a fresh inclusive election through talks. 'We want to warn the government that there'll be a serious movement if our call for holding a fresh election with the participation of all parties is ignored considering it our weakness,' said BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. Addressing a press briefing at the BNP's Nayapaltan central office, he also alleged that Awami League does not believe that there is a place for discussion in democracy. Rizvi apparently issued the threat as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday ruled out the possibility of holding any dialogue with BNP over holding a fresh election, according to a news agency.
