BNP seeks time to submit polls expenditure info

Thursday, 9 May 2019

BNP on Wednesday sought time until June 8 from the Election Commission (EC) to submit its statement on December-30 election expenditures, reports UNB.
A three-member BNP delegation, led by its assistant office secretary Taiful Islam Tipu, submitted a letter, signed by party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, to the EC seeking the time extension.
Talking to the news agency, Tipu said they went to the EC around 2pm and handed over the letter to an official at the dispatch section.
He said their party could not prepare the statement on election expenses for various reasons. "We urged the Commission to give us one month's time (until June 8) to submit the statement."
Two other BNP delegation members are party assistant office secretaries Monir Hossain and Belal Ahmed.
The deadline for submission of the statement expired over a month ago.
