BNP sees Sushma\\\'s visit a scope to resolve outstanding problems

Thursday, 26 June 2014

Welcoming Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's Bangladesh visit, BNP hoped Wednesday that her visit would create a new scope for resolving the outstanding problems with the neighbouring country, reports UNB.
"Sushma Swaraj is a seasoned politician who has been made Indian External Affairs Minister after BJP formed the government through a landslide victory in a democratic election in their country. She is coming to Bangladesh and we welcome her visit," said BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
The BNP spokesman came up with the remarks while talking to reporters at BNP's Nayapaltan central office before starting his journey for Feni to distribute relief materials and Iftar items among the destitutes and flood-hit people in BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's home constituency on behalf of her.
Mirza Fakhrul said the BJP government is trying to intensify India ties with its neighbouring countries, including the SAARC ones, with a new approach.
"We hope the new Indian government will take steps to reinforce ties between Bangladesh and India and resolve the outstanding problems, including border killing and water of the common rivers, as per the hope and aspirations of the people of Bangladesh,'' he said.
The BNP leader said they hoped that the Indian External Affairs Minister's visit would also create a scope to resolve these problems.
Meanwhile, BNP spokesman Fakhrul Islam Alamgir alleged Wednesday that the government has turned the country into a land of terror by resorting to extrajudicial killings, forced disappearances, abductions and other repressive acts.
"Not only Feni, Laxmipur and Narayanganj, but the government has also turned the entire country into a land of terror. People now can't sleep peacefully at night and come out of their homes at daytime without fear due to the government's growing repressive acts," he said.
Mirza Fakhrul, the BNP acting secretary general, was addressing a rally at Munshirhat Bazar in Fulgazi of Feni arranged by the local unit of BNP demanding the release of BNP leader Mahtab Uddin Ahmed Minar Chowdhury, arrested in connection with the murder of Fulgazi Upazila chairman Ekramul Haque.
