BNP supporters attack power office in Bogra, call hartal today

BOGRA, Dec 11 (UNB): BNP supporters today attacked a power office, damaging machinery and furniture and called dawn-to-duck hartal in Dupchachia Upazila on Sunday in protest against killing of a local BNP leader Friday.
Former mayor of Dupchachia municipality and BNP leader Abdul Latif, 45, was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants near Dupchachia thana Friday night.
A case was filed but no arrest has made till filing of this report at 8.00pm today.
Angered at the killing BNP supporters brought out protest procession in upazila sadar and attacked an electricity (power) office beside Bogra-Naogaon highway this (Saturday) morning.
They damaged machinery, broke furniture and ransacked documents of the power office.
They also blocked Bogra-Naogaon highway, causing huge traffic jam on both sides of the busy road. Later, they withdrew blockade after assurance made by Dupchachia thana officer that killers of Latif will be held.
At the end of demonstration local BNP leaders announced day-long hartal in the upazila Sunday to protest the killing.
