The BNP has lent moral support to a general strike called by Narayanganj lawyers for Sunday to protest against the abduction and murder of a colleague and six others. The party’s acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told reporters at a press conference at the party chief Khaleda Zia's Gulshan office on Friday. To a question from the press, he said the lawyers who support BNP had already been in Narayanganj to back the shutdown. “Our lawyers will be there that day during the hartal as well.” Mirza Fakhrul added, “Being the party of the people, the BNP has lent moral support to the hartal against enforced disappearances, abductions and killings.” Bodies of six men, including senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar and city councillor Nazrul Islam, kidnapped from Narayanganj last Sunday, were recovered on Wednesday from the Shitalakhya River. The body of another abductee were found on Thursday, according to a news agency.
