BNP takes preparation for Jan 29 mass procession

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is taking preparations to make success the January 29 mass procession in the capital to intensify the current movement for restoration of non-party caretaker government (CG) to oversee the next general elections.
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is likely to lead the mass procession in the city, Dhaka City BNP member-secretary Abdus Salam told UNB Friday.
Awami League (AL) led grand alliance government scrapped the provision of CG through the 15th amendment to the Constitution in June last year.
Salam said workers' meeting of BNP and its front and associate organisations in wards, thanas and constituencies in Dhaka City will be held in phases from Sunday to gear up the party's different tiers on the eve of the mass procession.
He said mass contacts will also be carried out to mobilise the people in favour of the programme.
The mass procession will be brought out from in front of the BNP central office at Nayapaltan, Salam said.
Moulana Mohammad Ishaq, Ameer of Khelafat Majlish, a component of BNP-led four-party alliance told UNB that they are also taking preparation for the programme.
He said meetings of Khelafat Majlish executive committee and Majlish-e-Shura will be held ahead of the mass procession.
Meanwhile, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday said his party will intensify the ongoing movement to force the government to restore the annulled caretaker government provision.
