Thursday, 17 June 2010

Opposition BNP will start massive reaching out activities in the capital from June 21 to muster support for their June 27 countrywide dawn-to-dusk hartal.
The party's front ranking leaders including members of the Standing Committee, the highest policy making body of the party, BNP chairperson's advisers and presidents and general secretaries of the party's front and associate organisations, have been assigned to carry out the tasks to convince people of all walks of life to justify the hartal (general strike) call.
BNP Standing Committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain told UNB Wednesday that they would start reaching out to the masses in favour of the hartal from June 21.
He will lead the planned reaching out programme in Jatrabari area.
On Monday BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia held a closed-door preparatory meeting with the party leaders at her Gulshan office to make the June 27 hartal a success.
Senior leaders of BNP and its front and associate organisations were present at the meeting.
