BNP takes steps to gear up organisational activities

Monday, 19 July 2010

BNP has planned a series of programmes to gear up organisational activities and keep up the pace of ongoing anti-government movement before and during the holy month of Ramadan, reports UNB.
As part of the programmes, the party will hold its first meeting of the newly formed national executive committee on July 31. It is expected to discuss the latest organisational matters and the political developments in the country.
The national executive committee meeting is scheduled at the Diploma Engineers Institution at 10am with Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the chair.
The last national council of BNP was held on December 8 last year. A 386-member national executive committee was announced on January 1.
BNP has also planned for opinion exchange meetings with like-minded political parties, right and left wing political parties apart from the partners of the BNP-led four-party alliance.
Opinion exchange meetings are likely to begin from tomorrow (Tuesday).
BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi told the news agency that the national executive committee meeting would be held as part of its sitting within six months. The agenda of the meeting has not yet been finalised.
Another BNP leader said the party would organise mass hunger strike before the holy month of Ramadan as well as hold some demonstrations protesting government's failure to arrest price hike of essentials.
The party will also organise Iftars during Ramadan to maintain close contacts with party leaders and workers.
